Following SSU investigation, enemy agent who committed arsons in Kirovohrad region sentenced to 15 years in prison
Based on the investigation by the Security Service, another enemy agent, who operated in Kirovohrad region, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. On russia’s orders, the perpetrator burned critical infrastructure facilities and Defence Forces vehicles.
The investigation established that in 2024 he set fire to a local post office, an administrative building, and power substations.
The arsonist also destroyed several Ukrainian Armed Forces off-road vehicles that were undergoing maintenance in Kropyvnytskyi after combat missions on the front line.
The enemy accomplice is a displaced person from the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk oblast, recruited by the occupiers. After arriving in central Ukraine, he began tracking down targets determined by his handler in russia.
The agent then purchased a flammable mixture, which he used to set fires, and recorded the process on his phone to report to russian special services.
The SSU detained him red-handed as he was preparing to commit new crimes.
A smartphone, clothing and other items with evidence of the agent’s sabotage activities were seized during the search.
The court has found the accused guilty under three Articles of the CCU:
- 113.2 (sabotage, committed under martial law);
- 114-1.1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the AFU);
- 194.2 (intentional destruction or damage to property by arson, causing property damage on an especially large scale).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
