SSU evidence leads to prison sentence for pro-kremlin agitator in Cherkasy region
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an agitator of ruscism, detained in April 2024 in Cherkasy region, has been sentenced to imprisonment.
The investigation established that the individual, a businessman from the Zolotonosha district, publicly justified russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
To disseminate pro-kremlin narratives, he recorded videos featuring his own commentary and published them on his Facebook page.
In these posts, he justified the temporary occupation of Crimea and parts of Donbas and called on russian forces to seize Odesa and Mykolaiv.
He also described russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine as an ‘internal civil conflict’ and spread disinformation about Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
In addition to producing his own content, he actively shared materials from kremlin-controlled propaganda outlets.
A forensic linguistic analysis initiated by the SSU confirmed that his activities were aimed at supporting russia’s subversive efforts.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under parts 2 and 3 of Article 436-2 of the CCU (justification, recognition as lawful, or denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, and glorification of its participants).
He was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Cherkasy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
