Following SSU investigation, traitors who guided russian missiles at energy facilities in Sumy and Poltava regions convicted to prison

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, another two enemy agents have been sentenced to 15 and 13 years in prison with confiscation of property. They adjusted russian air strikes on power and heat generating enterprises in Poltava and Sumy oblasts.

Local power substations were russia’s main targets.

To adjust the strikes, the agents installed camouflaged video traps near critical infrastructure facilities.

They camouflaged mobile phones, connected them to power banks, and provided russian special services with access to online broadcasts.

In this way, the occupiers hoped to record the results of their combined attacks on strategically important installations that supply light and heat to frontline areas.

The enemy accomplices turned out to be two unemployed men from Poltava region, aged 21 and 23, who came to russia’s attention while looking for easy money on Telegram.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the traitors in October 2024 near the site where they were attempting to install a hidden camera.

After the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

Due to their cooperation with the investigation, one of the perpetrators received a reduced sentence for the crimes of which they were accused.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Poltava region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.a
