Following the SSU and National Police investigation, three more arsonists executing russian orders in the North of Ukraine have been convicted
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service and the National Police, three more fsb agents who set fire to Defence Forces vehicles and government buildings in various regions of Ukraine received real sentences.
The investigation established that all the suspects came to the attention of the enemy while looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels.
Thus, in July 2024, in Kyiv region, a pair of fsb agents who set fire to a Ukrainian Armed Forces multivan and two off-road vehicles that volunteers planned to donate to the Ukrainian army were detained.
As established by the investigation, the perpetrators first traced the vehicles' parking locations and then attempted to destroy them by setting them on fire.
After that, they filmed the fire and sent the video to their supervisor.
Based on the materials provided by the Security Service, the court sentenced each of the agents to five and a half years in prison.
In Zhytomyr region, a 21-year-old criminal recidivist was convicted. He had previously committed thefts, and in February this year, on behalf of the russian federation, he set fire to the administrative building of the local village council.
To avoid responsibility, he committed the crime at night: he smashed the glass window of the state institution with a hammer, poured a bottle of petrol inside and lit the mixture.
For this, the perpetrator received 8 years in prison with property confiscation.
The court found all three accomplices guilty of crimes under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 258 (terrorist act committed by a group of individuals by prior conspiracy);
- Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, committed by a group of individuals by prior conspiracy);
- Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 194 (intentional destruction or damage to property committed by a group of individuals by prior conspiracy).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU officers in Kyiv and the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions in cooperation with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the Regional Prosecutor's Offices.
