Based on evidence collected by the SSU Military Counterintelligence and SSU investigators, another three traitors, who fought against the Ukrainian Armed Forces, have been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
One of the perpetrators was captured by our defenders during the operation in Kursk, near Sudzha. Two others were captured in battles in Kharkiv region, near Vovchansk and Kupiansk.
Among those convicted is a resident of Luhansk region who joined the armed formations of the ‘LNR’ of russia’s Southern military district in 2014 and shelled Ukrainian positions from artillery.
At the beginning of the full-scale war, the traitor took part in the capture of Rubizhne. At that time, he attacked the Defence Forces from a Grad multiple rocket launcher and was wounded.
After rehabilitation, the militant voluntarily signed a new contract with the russian ministry of defence and joined the 30th separate motorised rifle brigade. He was then sent to fight on Kursk direction.
Another perpetrator is a resident of the temporarily occupied Crimea who, after the capture of the peninsula, received a russian passport and joined russia’s 136th separate motorised rifle brigade.
Serving as a sapper-scout, he took part in the assaults on Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia, where he was wounded and fled from the battlefield to Crimea.
There, the russians found him at his home and sent him to the Kharkiv sector of the front.
Another militant is a 43-year-old resident of the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk oblast, who was serving a sentence in a russian prison for banditry.
In September 2024, he signed a contract to join the russian armed forces in exchange for ‘amnesty’.
After a short period at the training grounds, the repeat offender was included in the russian motorised rifle brigade and sent to attack Kupiansk.
Based on the investigations of the Security Service, the court found the accused guilty of crimes under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 111-1.7 (collaboration).
The investigations were conducted by the SSU Offices in the Crimea, Sumy and Mykolaiv regions under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Offices.
