Following SSU investigation, another two traitors who fought against Ukraine convicted to 15 years in prison

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, two more traitors who fought against the Defence Forces on the eastern front have been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Ukrainian defenders captured both during the fighting in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk sectors in October and June 2025.

The investigation established that the militants were two residents of the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine who joined the armed groupings of russia’s Southern military district for money.

One of them is a 44-year-old resident of the city of Sorokine in Luhansk region, who had previously been convicted of theft and became a rifleman in russia’s 123rd motorized rifle brigade.

After a short training, he was sent to storm Ukrainian positions near the village of Volodymyrivka in Dobropillia sector.

Later, the enemy’s accomplice was transferred to attack Ukrainian troops near Siversk, where he was captured as the only survivor of his unit.

Another convict is a 50-year-old director of an architectural company in Simferopol, who signed a contract with the russian ministry of defence and joined the 10th tank regiment.

He was deployed by his command to capture the village of Oleksandro-Kalinove in Donetsk oblast, where he was captured by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Based on the investigations by the Security Service, the court found both accused guilty under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 111-1.7 (collaboration).

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
