Following SSU’s investigation, russian aviation regiment commander, who ordered strike on Dnipro, declared suspect (video)
The SSU jointly with the Prosecutor General’s Office have collected evidence on a commander of a russian military regiment involved in a series of missile attacks on civilian infrastructure of Ukraine.
The war criminal is the commander of the 52nd heavy bomber aviation regiment of the long range aviation of the russian aerospace forces colonel Oleh Tymoshyn.
In total, the enemy strikes carried out under his orders resulted in deaths of 88 civilian Ukrainians and injuries to 240.
In particular, it was he who organized the attack on a residential building in Dnipro on January 14 this year. As a result, 46 people were killed and 79 were injured.
This serviceman is also involved in a missile attack on a shopping center in Kremenchuk on June 27, 2022. Then, 21 civilians were killed and 77 -injured.
The investigation also established that on his instructions russian occupiers had fired missiles at the Riviera shopping center in Odesa and the town house of culture in Lozova, Kharkiv region, in May 2022.
In July, Tymoshyn ordered a strike on a multi-storey residential building and the Goji recreation center in Serhiivka village, Odesa oblast, killing 14 and seriously injuring 30 people.
Russian Tu-22M3 bombers with Kh-22 and Kh-32 cruise missiles were used in the series of air raids.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified Tymoshyn of suspicion of violation of laws and customs of war (Article 438.1, 438.2 of the CCU).
The maximum punishment for this crime is life imprisonment.
The SSU is acting to bring the criminal to justice.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by an interregional investigation team consisting of investigators from the SSU Main Investigation Department and the SSU Offices in Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Poltava and Kharkiv regions with operational support from the SSU Military Counterintelligence Department and under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
