Following SSU investigation, russian citizen sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for shooting civilian during Kyiv region occupation

Based on the investigation by the Security Service, another russian war criminal involved in the killing of civilians during the occupation of Kyiv region in 2022 has been sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia.

The individual in question is russian corporal Nadbit Dabaev, a 24-year-old deputy commander of a combat vehicle in the 8th motorized rifle company of the 37th separate motorized rifle brigade of russian armed forces.

SSU investigators established that in March 2022 he took part in capturing Havronshchyna village in Bucha district.

At that time, he stopped a civilian resident of the community on the street and, threatening him with an automatic weapon, tried to ‘extract’ a confession of the victim’s alleged involvement in the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The occupier then dragged the man into a nearby building and shot him in the head. The victim died on the spot from his gunshot wounds.

It has also been documented that, while intoxicated, Dabaev broke into the homes of local residents and, holding them at gunpoint, demanded ‘confessions’ of involvement in the resistance movement.

The perpetrator also stole two cars from local people.

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the court found Dabaev guilty under Articles 28.2, 438.1, 438.2 of the CCU (war crimes, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).

Efforts to bring the convicted person to justice for crimes against Ukraine are underway.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
