Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, a collaborator who worked for the ruscists during the temporary occupation of Kherson in 2022 has been convicted to prison.

After the port city was captured, he agreed to become a ‘junior inspector’ in a russian prison administration set up in the city.

In this role, he guarded the cells and perimeter of the high-security facility where the enemy had illegally imprisoned members of the resistance movement in southern Ukraine.

After the right bank of the region was liberated, the collaborator initially remained in the city and did not leave his flat. He subsequently enlisted in one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ military units, hoping to lay low and evade justice.

In March 2025, the SSU detained the suspect on the premises of one of the Ukrainian army training centres.

Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty of collaboration under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU.

Given his cooperation with the investigation, the perpetrator was sentenced to eight years in prison and banned from holding office in state authorities and law enforcement agencies for up to ten years.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Offices in the Mykolaiv region and in the Kherson region, and the National Police, under the procedural supervision of the Mykolaiv Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern Region.
