Following SSU investigation, another traitor sentenced to 15 years in prison for guiding russian strikes at Mykolaiv and Odesa

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another agent of russia’s federal security service has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for helping the aggressor strike Mykolaiv and Odesa.

The investigation established that the 65-year-old resident of Mykolaiv, who came to the enemy’s attention during trips to russia before the start of the full-scale war, directed enemy’s attacks on Ukraine.

At the end of February 2022, an FSB employee called him via messenger app and offered cooperation in exchange for ‘evacuation’ to russia.

Having agreed, the traitor began to track and record the locations of repair bases and logistics centres of the Defence Forces, which the russians were preparing to strike with missiles and drones.

The agent drove around the city in his car and photographed potential ‘targets’. He also gathered information from his acquaintances in Odesa region.

He dictated the data he had collected to his handler in voice messages and used a separate smartphone for this communication.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the perpetrator in September 2024.

Mobile phones with evidence of his work for the aggressor were seized during the searches.

The court has now found the accused guilty under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 263.1 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
