Following SSU investigation, enemy mole sentenced to 15 years in prison for spying in Ukrainian Air Force

Based on evidence collected by the SSU Military Counterintelligence and SSU investigators, one of the most valuable FSB agents, who spied within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

He was arrested as a result of a special operation in Lviv region this summer in cooperation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The perpetrator turned out to be the head of the housing and maintenance service of one of the brigades of the Ukrainian Air Force, who had been recruited by the enemy.

To get him to cooperate, the occupiers used his ex-wife, a former military servicewoman who is part of the FSB’s agent network in the temporarily occupied Melitopol. Later, the agent communicated directly with an officer of the russian special service.

As the investigation established, the traitor was preparing coordinates for a large-scale russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s aviation infrastructure.

Among the main targets were operational airfields and bases for maintenance of Ukrainian combat aircraft.

The SSU Military Counterintelligence uncovered the mole at an early stage, documented his activity and detained him. A smartphone with evidence of the crimes and an unregistered Kalashnikov assault rifle with ammunition were found in his possession.

Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defence Forces.

Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under the Articles of the CCU:

  • 28.2, 111.2 (high treason, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy, under martial law);
  • 263.1 (illegal handling of weapons and ammunition).

In June 2025, SSU investigators notified his wife, an FSB agent, in absentia of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
