Following SSU investigation, enemy agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for spying on military trains in northern Ukraine

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, another FSB agent, detained in Chernihiv region in spring 2024, has been convicted to 15 years behind bars with confiscation of property.

The perpetrator is a 45-year-old employee of the local branch of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways) who spied on the echelons of the Defense Forces.

According to the investigation, the traitor used his workplace at the railway station to covertly record the passage and transit stops of the Armed Forces trains.

The aggressor state was interested in freight trains transporting armored vehicles, artillery systems and ammunition to the front.

The agent passed the collected data to his handler in the form of coordinates of movement and stops of echelons, as well as photographs of objects.

After identifying the mole, the Security Service documented his crimes and detained him. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defense Forces and railway infrastructure facilities.

A mobile phone and a tablet with evidence of working for the enemy were seized during searches.

Based on the evidence collected by the SSU, the accused was found guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Chernihiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
