Following SSU investigation, GRU agent who collected intelligence and adjusted enemy strikes on Ukraine sentenced to 15 years in prison

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’) has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

His main task was to collect information on the location of Ukrainian military installations, Defense Forces personnel, and energy infrastructure facilities.

The traitor also adjusted russian air strikes on Kyiv, Sumy, and Vinnytsia regions.

The SSU detained the suspect in the fall of 2024 in Sumy region, where he had arrived to direct enemy fire at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The aggressor’s agent turned out to be a 24-year-old serviceman from one of the military units who had left his place of service without permission.

The individual came to the GRU’s attention while looking for easy money on Telegram.

Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under three Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 113.2 (sabotage, committed under martial law);
  • 408.4 (desertion, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out jointly with the SSU Office in Vinnytsia region under the procedural supervision of Vinnytsia Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern Region.
