Following SSU investigation, agent of russian SOF sentenced to 15 years in prison for sabotage on railway and preparation of terrorist attack
Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another enemy agent, who operated in Kyiv region, has been convicted to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. On orders of russian special operations forces, the perpetrator carried out sabotage on Ukrainian railways and prepared terrorist attacks on Defence Forces installations.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained the enemy accomplice in May this year while he was preparing an improvised explosive device plotting to blow it up at the local Territorial Recruitment Center.
According to the investigation, russia’s task was carried out by a 25-year-old unemployed man from Bucha district, recruited by the occupiers.
Initially, he carried out test tasks, including setting fire to a relay cabinet on a railway line in Kyiv region.
After the arson, the agent received instructions from his handler to independently manufacture explosives, which he was to place near the military registration and enlistment office building for remote detonation.
During his arrest, components for a homemade bomb and a smartphone with evidence of his contacts with the occupiers were seized from the agent.
Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Articles 28.2 and 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy, under martial law).
The investigation was conducted by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
