Following SSU investigation, enemy agent who spied on military airfields in Dnipropetrovsk region sentenced to 15 years in prison

Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, an agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’), who was detained in Dnipropetrovsk region in March 2023, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation established that he adjusted russian missile and drone attacks on the region. One of his main tasks was to identify airfields of the Defence Forces in Dnipropetrovsk region.

The traitor also recorded the frequency and directions of military aircraft flights in the region.

According to the investigation, the enemy agent is a 42-year-old local handyman.

To recruit him, the occupiers used a Telegram channel where the man posted comments in support of the aggressor state.

The court found the accused guilty under the Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 114-2.2 (dissemination of information on movement or location of the AFU or other military formations);
  • 436-2.1, 436-2.3 (justification, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
