Following SSU investigation, FSB agent, who adjusted russian air strikes on headquarters of Defense Forces, sentenced to 15 years in prison

Following SSU investigation, a member of an FSB agent network dismantled by the Service in the summer of 2024 in northern and eastern Ukraine was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

As a result, SSU cyber experts detained three russian agents who were coordinating missile and bomb strikes on Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv. Among the enemy's main targets were the headquarters of the Defense Forces.

In the spring of this year, one of the detainees received a prison sentence and is serving it in a strict regime colony.

Another member of the FSB agent group has been sentenced to prison. He is a 40-year-old sawmill worker from Chernihiv who came to the attention of the occupiers while looking for “easy money” on Telegram channels.

After being recruited, he received orders from his handler, who controlled the entire enemy group. Following russian instructions, the agent monitored the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guard units in Kyiv and Chernihiv.

To do this, the suspect travelled around streets of the capital and a border town, where he recorded military facilities with his phone camera and marked their coordinates on Google Maps.

SBU cyber experts established that after each reconnaissance mission, the agent reported his handler in an anonymous messenger chat.

The SSU detained the suspect “red-handed” as he attempted to photograph one of the Defense Forces' secret facilities.

The detainee was seized of a phone used to gather intelligence and contact with the FSB.

Based on the evidence provided by SSU cyber experts and investigators, the court found the agent guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
