Following SSU investigation, enemy agent sentenced to 15 years in prison for setting up video trap to guide russian ballistics on Chernihiv region

Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, an agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’), detained by the SSU in April 2025 in Chernihiv region, has been convicted to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation established that the perpetrator attempted to help russia target a railway station in the region, which, according to the enemy, is involved in transport logistics of the Defence Forces.

The occupiers’ order was carried out by a 31-year-old former saleswoman from a local supermarket, recruited by the aggressor state. She was spotted by the GRU when she was seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram.

To agent had to install a camouflaged video camera with a power bank and remote access for the ruscists near a local Ukrzaliznytsia railway crossing.

With the help of the video device, the enemy hoped to monitor the movement of rolling stock and strike it when it temporarily stopped at the station.

The woman was also tracking the locations of the AFU radar stations and anti-aircraft missile systems to evade Ukrainian air defences during an air attack.

The SSU Military Counterintelligence identified the spy at an early stage and detained her while she was preparing the missile attack.

A mini-camera and a smartphone with an anonymous chat in a messenger app, in which she communicated with the GRU, were seized from her during the search.

Based on the SSU’s investigation, the court found the accused guilty under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Chernihiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
