68 enemy agents uncovered within Defence Forces by SSU Military Counterintelligence since full-scale invasion
Since the start of the full-scale war, the SSU Military Counterintelligence has exposed 68 agents of russian intelligence services in Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
In 2025 alone, the SSU detained 19 russian moles. Ten of them have already received real prison terms, with seven of them sentenced to 15 years in prison.
In Lviv region, a major of Ukraine’s Air Force brigade has been convicted for adjusting russian air strikes on aviation infrastructure.
Using his coordinates, the occupiers hoped to strike operational airfields and logistics bases for maintenance of Ukrainian combat aircraft.
Another enemy mole also received 15 years in prison. He is a unit commander in the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who leaked SOF’s plans of combat operations behind enemy lines to the russian military intelligence.
This included routes of sabotage and reconnaissance raids by Ukrainian special forces behind the front line in the southern part of the front.
Another perpetrator was convicted to the same prison term. He is a commander of a self-propelled artillery division of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who tried to pass on secret plans of the Defence Forces in Kharkiv sector to the russians.
One more convicted traitor is an agent of the 317th intelligence center of russia’s GRU (military intelligence), who tried to spy on Ukrainian paratroopers under the cover of a chaplain.
Since the beginning of this year, the SSU Military Counterintelligence has neutralised four enemy intelligence networks that operated in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Lviv oblasts.
The members of these enemy cells adjusted russia’s combined attacks on different regions of Ukraine and recruited new candidates to join them.
In Odesa this year, a resident and three other members of a russian intelligence network were detained simultaneously. They were trying to collect data on the Defence Forces’ reconnaissance units, air defence locations, and logistics depots.
In Zaporizhzhia, the rector of a local church of the UOC-MP (Ukrainian Orthodox Church of moscow patriarchate) has been detained for transmitting the geolocation of the city’s defenders to the GRU. The enemy used the data to prepare combined attacks on the targets. To collect the coordinates, the priest recruited a local military serviceman.
In another case, two FSB agents were apprehended for preparing a series of terrorist attacks and sabotage in several regions of Ukraine. One of them was exposed while attempting to carry out an explosion in a city park in Kharkiv.
During 2025, based on the investigations of the Security Service of Ukraine, 77 traitors (188 since 2022), who joined the occupiers to fight against Ukraine’s Defence Forces, have been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
At the same time, during this period, the SSU Military Counterintelligence prevented the theft of defence funds totaling UAH 33.9 billion (UAH 51 billion since 2022) (USD 796 mln, since 2022 – USD 1.2 bln).
For example, the former head of one of the departments of the Ministry of Defence and two of his accomplices were detained in Kyiv for attempting to embezzle UAH 90 million on the purchase of defective anti-tank missile systems for the front.
In addition, over 270 attempts to smuggle combat weapons from frontline areas were blocked in 2025.
The SSU Military Counterintelligence continues to work systematically to expose the aggressor’s agents, illegal arms trafficking, and shut down schemes to plunder Ukraine’s defence budget during the war.
