SSU detains russian agents in Mykolaiv who posed as pro-russian ‘underground’ (video)

The SSU dismantled another intelligence network of russian special services, which operated in the south of Ukraine. As a result of a multi-stage special operation in Mykolaiv, two organizers of the enemy’s so-called ‘underground’ were detained.

The agents were engaged in covert preparation of ordered stories for the kremlin’s information agencies. In their videos, they called for the occupation of this southern oblast and physical elimination of the leadership of the regional military administration.

To conceal their subversive activities, the traitors posed as ‘bloggers’, supposedly ‘informing citizens on the situation in Mykolaiv region’.

In the course of the operation, the SSU identified their ‘liaisons’, who turned out to be several employees of the kremlin’s news agency RIA Novosti.

These ‘liaisons’ determined topics of propaganda stories, as well as deadlines for their preparation and submitting to moscow.

Another task of the network was to collect intelligence on location, temporary deployment and movement of Ukrainian Defence Forces in the frontline areas, for which the spies received financial rewards from their ‘supervisors’.

They also passed to the aggressors the information on consequences of regular missile and artillery strikes on Mykolaiv.

To collect information, they carried out visual surveillance of targets and then transmitted information to russians through anonymous Telegram channels.

According to the investigation, the two enemy accomplices are locals, recruited by russian special services after the start of the full-scale invasion.

SSU investigators have notified both detainees of suspicion of crime under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law). The court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspects.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the operation jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
