SSU detains FSB agent involved in adjusting missile strikes on Mykolaiv
The SSU Counterintelligence prevented the occupiers from locating Ukrainian combat positions near the southern front.
In a special operation, the SSU detained a resident of Mykolaiv, who collected intelligence on deployment and movement of Ukrainian Armed Forces in the region and on critical infrastructure and defence facilities near the Black Sea coast.
The aggressor planned to use the obtained data for missile strikes on the cities and to carry out acts of sabotage in southern Ukraine.
Previously, the intelligence passed by the agent was used by russia at least for adjusting the massive missile attacks on Mykolaiv on June 26-30.
It has been established that the resident of Mykolaiv, who supported russia’s full-scale aggression and justified the invaders’ war crimes, was recruited by the FSB to carry out reconnaissance and subversive activity.
The enemy agent ‘reported’ the information directly to his russian supervisors or through a ‘liaison’. The latter turned out to be a local, who was recruited by the FSB and has been living in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region since 2014.
The agents used a specially created anonymous Telegram channel for communication.
During the search, the law enforcement found the following in the agent’s possession:
- explosives,
- firearms and ammunition,
- russian symbols,
- mobile phones with evidence of unlawful activities.
The spy, resident of Mykolaiv, has been detained and notified of suspicion of a crime under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information about movement and location of the armed forces, with possibility to identify them in the area, committed under martial law). The court is to choose the measure of restraint.
The SSU also identified the resident of Odesa, whom the enemy planned to involve in subversive activities in the city.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The SSU Office in Mykolaiv region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
