SSU collects evidence proving suspect in Parubiy’s case acted on behalf of russian special services: notice of suspicion of high treason served
Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine have collected irrefutable evidence of high treason on the part of the suspect in the murder of Ukrainian member of parliament Andriy Parubiy.
According to the investigation, over a year ago, while living in Lviv, the perpetrator was recruited by russian special services. Since then, he had been receiving assignments and reported to russia on their completion.
Initially, he surveilled and transmitted the locations of the Defence Forces to the occupiers, as well as attempted to establish the times and directions of movement of railway trains carrying fuel.
After checking if the asset was ready for a ‘more complex’ task, the ruscists instructed him to kill Andriy Parubiy and financed the preparation for this crime.
To do this, the killer tracked the daily schedule and travel routes of the MP. Simultaneously, he was preparing a plan to flee abroad after committing the murder.
However, the law enforcement prevented his escape and detained the suspect in Khmelnytskyi region.
Based on the evidence, SSU notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, the murder of Andriy Parubiy was classified under Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempt on the life of a member of the Ukrainian parliament committed in connection with his state activities).
The investigation is conducted by the SSU Office in Lviv region jointly with the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police under the procedural supervision of Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
