SSU detains enemy informant helping russia prepare attempt to break through defences in Kharkiv region
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another enemy informant in Kharkiv oblast. He is a 62-year-old resident of Izyum who was helping the russian military command prepare an offensive operation in the region.
The perpetrator tracked and transmitted to the ruscists the geolocation of Ukrainian troops defending this sector of the front.
The occupiers were interested in reserve command posts, fortified areas, fuel and ammunition depots, as well as firing positions of Ukrainian artillery.
Using the informant’s coordinates, russia planned to launch massive strikes with combat drones and heavy guided aerial bombs.
The adversary hoped to use the intelligence also to determine the main directions of ground attacks on Ukrainian defensive lines.
To communicate with the russian special services, the agent used an anonymous chat in a messenger app, where he sent cartographic markings of potential targets with detailed descriptions.
SSU cyber units uncovered the informant’s connection with the occupiers, documented his crime, and detained him.
The individual came to russia’s attention when he published his anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram.
The traitor walked around the city and its suburbs, recording the locations of the Defence Forces on his smartphone. After returning home, he summarised the collected data for the enemy.
A mobile phone with evidence of his work for the aggressor state was seized during searches.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorised dissemination of information on the location of the AFU or other lawful military formations, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces up to 8 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
