SSU detains another spotter who adjusted russian strikes on Kherson
The SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended another enemy agent who adjusted russia’s air attacks on Kherson. The perpetrator tried to collect data on locations of the Defense Forces and energy facilities.
According to the investigation, the enemy agent is a 53-year-old local unemployed man who wished for full occupation of the region.
To perform russia’s tasks, the asset walked around the city and its suburbs and tried to identify locations of UAV units of the Defense Forces and firing positions of Ukrainian artillery.
The spotter also planned to guide an enemy strike on one of the key power substations that supplies a large number of houses and hospitals.
The Security Service uncovered the aggressor’s agent at an early stage and detained him at his home. Action was taken to protect the locations of the Defense Forces and energy facilities.
A mobile phone with evidence of the suspect’s work for russia was seized during searches.
Weapons and ammunition were also found in his possession; the man brought them from the areas of former battles for Kherson.
The individual came to the attention of russian special services when he offered his assistance to the enemy in chats on pro-russian Telegram channels.
After remote recruitment, he kept in touch with his handler through a ‘liaison’ – a militant on the left bank of Kherson region.
SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The traitor is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
