SSU detains enemy agent who tried to blow up Territorial Recruitment Centre in Donetsk region and flee to russia
The SSU Counterintelligence has foiled another terrorist attack on Ukrainian Defence Forces installations. As a result of preemptive actions in Donetsk region, an enemy agent preparing to blow up a frontline TRC office has been apprehended.
The investigation established that the woman was supposed to plant an improvised explosive device in a garbage container near the entrance to the facility. The russian intelligence services then planned to remotely detonate the bomb during rush hour.
At the moment of the explosion, the terrorist was going to leave the region in her car and continue towards the western border to escape to russia via third countries.
The SSU thwarted the enemy’s plan and detained the agent when she arrived at the location to meet a drone, on board which the russians were to transfer the IED.
At the scene, an improvised bomb (almost 2 kg in TNT equivalent) with metal elements to increase the impact of destruction and a mobile phone for remote activation were seized from the detainee.
The aggressor’s task was carried out by a resident of Mykolaivka, Kramatorsk district, recruited by the occupiers. She was spotted by them when she wrote in Telegram channel chats about her hopes for a complete occupation of the region.
It was also established that the asset offered her russian handler to use her apartment as a hidden ‘transit base’ for russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
A smartphone, which she used to coordinate her actions with the enemy handler, was seized during the search.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
