SSU detains russian informant who set up 'video traps' on Ukrainian Railways to spy on AFU echelons
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another enemy informant who was operating in Poltava and Kirovohrad regions. The perpetrator was spying on military echelons moving toward the front line through the central regions of Ukraine.
To do this, the suspect installed a hidden mini-camera with an additional battery and remote access for russian special services on one of the local railway sections.
This allowed the occupiers to remotely monitor the routes of AFU supply trains in real-time and estimate the amount of armored equipment being moved to the frontline.
Furthermore, the traitor attempted to identify the locations of air defense systems in the central regions. The enemy instructed him to send his handler a photo report with geolocations.
According to the investigation, the enemy's task was carried out by an 18-year-old resident of Kremenchuk region, who came to the attention of the occupiers through Telegram channels looking for ‘easy money’.
SSU officers documented the agent's criminal activities and arrested him at his home. In addition, the SSU dismantled the surveillance equipment and took steps to ensure the safety of the AFU positions.
The detainee was seized of a phone with evidence of his collaboration with the enemy.
SSU investigators have notified him of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information about the location of the AFU or other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under the conditions of martial law).
The suspect is in custody without the right to bail facing 8 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Poltava region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
