SSU detains former member of OPZZh party for financing russian budget
The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed a former deputy from the banned opposition platform – for life party in Luhansk region for aiding the aggressor state. The suspect was detained in his office near Kyiv.
According to the investigation, the former member of the pro-kremlin political force owns an industrial complex in the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine.
In 2022, he re-registered this enterprise under the russian law.
The entrepreneur ignored the ban on business activities with russia and purchased equipment for his factory from the aggressor state.
After the start of the full-scale war, the perpetrator purchased technological equipment worth more than EUR 1 million from a russian company in Naberezhnye Chelny.
To conceal this transaction, he listed an affiliated belarusian company as the customer for the goods.
Circumventing, the russian equipment was delivered to his enterprise, and the money for it was transferred to russia.
Taxes and other payments from this deal went to the russian budget, effectively sponsoring the kremlin’s war against Ukraine.
Smartphones, computer equipment, seals, and documents with evidence of the transaction were seized during the searches.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding the aggressor state).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operational and investigative actions were conducted by the SSU Offices in Donetsk and Luhansk regions and in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
