SSU detains enemy spotter in Donetsk oblast and neutralises russian militant hiding in her home
In cooperation with the AFU units, the Security Service has detained an enemy agent in Donetsk region and neutralised a russian militant whom she was harbouring in her home.
During a special operation to expose the enemy cell, the russian militant offered armed resistance and was subsequently neutralised by Ukrainian defenders.
The investigation revealed that the russian soldier, with call sign ‘Shaman’, had infiltrated the Lyman area to reconnoitre the positions of the Defence Forces in the frontline community.
There, he made contact with a local unemployed woman who then hid him in her home.
The enemy soldier then enlisted the woman to direct enemy fire at Ukrainian troops in and around Lyman.
To do this, she walked around the area under the pretext of going for walks and scouted out the Defence Forces’ bases.
She then transmitted the geolocations of potential ‘targets’ to the russian militant, who reported the coordinates for shelling to his command via radio.
According to the investigation, ‘Shaman’ served in the 31st motorised rifle regiment of the 67th motorised rifle division of the 25th combined arms army of russia’s Central military district.
The SSU had documented the pair’s intelligence activities and taken measures to protect the defenders’ positions in Lyman.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
