SSU detains GRU mole who helped ruscists advance in Kursk region (video)

The SSU Military Counterintelligence, with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has apprehended an agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’) on the border of Sumy region. He is a mobilized serviceman who adjusted enemy fire on Ukraine’s Security and Defense Forces on Kursk direction.

According to the investigation, the traitor was recruited by the occupiers through a Telegram channel where he posted comments in support of russia.

After recruitment, the asset was given a task to infiltrate the Ukrainian army in order to collect intelligence for the aggressor state.

To do this, he joined a military unit in one of the rear regions of Ukraine and later transferred to a combat brigade fighting in Kursk region.

While at the front, the mole prepared coordinates for the aggressor’s missile and bomb strikes on the locations of Ukrainian troops.

Among the enemy’s targets were the electronic warfare systems that protect Ukrainian positions from russian drone attacks.

The GRU also hoped to get coordinates of Ukrainian self-propelled artillery units that fire at the occupiers’ assault groups.

The agent transmitted the collected information to his handler via a messenger app in the form of photos of Ukrainian weapons, their locations on Google maps, text comments and explanations.

The SSU Military Counterintelligence uncovered the perpetrator at an early stage of his cooperation with the enemy. The SSU team took action to protect the locations of the Defense Forces and document every step of the enemy accomplice.

At the final stage of the special operation, the suspect was caught red-handed when he was preparing his intelligence ‘report’ for russia’s GRU.

A phone with an anonymous chat in a messenger app, where the mole was in contact with the GRU, was seized at the scene.

SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Sumy Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office.
