With the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service’s Military Counterintelligence has exposed yet another FSB agent within the ranks of the defenders of the Kharkiv region.

The agent was a conscript who had been recruited by the enemy and was directing enemy fire at the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ motorised infantry brigade, of which he was a member.

The suspect was caught attempting to redirect a Russian missile attack towards his own repair battalion, restoring unmanned aerial systems.

To this end, the agent leaked the coordinates of the Ukrainian repair battalion to his handler from russia’s federal security service. Prior to the attack, he planned to leave the facility under the pretext of a hospital trip.

The SSU identified the mole and detained him in his service vehicle as he was leaving the unit’s premises.

Action was taken to secure the locations of the Ukrainian defenders.

The investigation revealed that the traitor had been recruited by the FSB prior to his conscription. To persuade the man to cooperate, the ruscists enlisted the help of his relative living in russia.

Following his mobilisation, he served as a master electrician, responsible for repairing unmanned aerial systems. At the same time, he gathered intelligence for the enemy on the deployment locations of his own unit and neighbouring units.

Five smartphones were seized from the detainee during searches. He used these for encrypted communication with the enemy.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of his status as a suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with the confiscation of his property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
