SSU detains FSB mole in Ukrainian Marine brigade: he coordinated enemy strikes and recruited assets
The SSU Military Counterintelligence has uncovered another agent of russia’s federal security service in the ranks of the Armed Forces. He turned out to be an officer recruited by the enemy – the commander of a platoon of unmanned aerial vehicles in one of the marine brigades fighting on the southern front.
The traitor leaked the geolocation of his unit to the occupiers to enable them to adjust their attack on Ukrainian defenders.
He also directed russian strikes on reserve command posts of neighbouring military units of the Defense Forces and their ammunition depots.
Another task of the mole was to search for potential candidates for recruitment into the FSB’s agent network.
As the investigation established, he tried to persuade other military servicemen to cooperate with the aggressor, reporting this to his handler.
The SSU documented the agent’s crimes and took action to protect the locations and personnel of the Defense Forces.
In the final stage of the special operation, the SSU Military Counterintelligence detained the enemy accomplice at the location of his unit.
A flash drive containing secret information that he was going to pass to the FSB was seized from the detainee during the searches. Two phones, which the agent used to contact his handler, were also found.
According to the investigation, the russian special service recruited the agent through his relatives from the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk region.
Investigators from the SSU Mykolaiv Office notified him of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern Region.
