The Military Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained another enemy informant in Dnipro. She is a 17-year-old local resident who was recruited by the aggressor state. Acting on russia’s orders, she guided russian missile and drone attacks on the city.

According to the investigation, the asset was tasked with tracking the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guard units in the city, which is close to the front line. The adversary was then preparing a new series of combined strikes based on this information.

The SSU identified the informant at the initial stage of her activities, documented her crimes, and arrested her at her home.

The teenager had come to the attention of the russian intelligence services via Telegram channels offering ‘easy’ money.

After the recruitment, she walked the streets of the city and secretly filmed locations which she believed were being used by Ukrainian troops, using her mobile phone.

She passed on the collected information to her handler in russia via a messaging app, in the form of photos as well as screenshots of Google Maps marked with potential ‘targets’.

During a search of the suspect’s premises, a smartphone was seized on which reconnaissance images of Ukrainian sites, along with their coordinates, had been stored.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorised disclosure of information on movement, transfer or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other lawful military formations, committed under martial law).

The investigation is ongoing. The perpetrator faces up to 12 years’ imprisonment. Her actions may be additionally classified as high treason.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Military Counterintelligence under the procedural supervision of the Dnipropetrovsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
