SSU detains GRU agent preparing coordinates for strikes on Kostyantynivka

The Security Service has apprehended another agent of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’) in Donetsk region. He was preparing coordinates for russian air strikes on the frontline town of Kostiantynivka.

The investigation established that the enemy accomplice is a 40-year-old local IT specialist. The ruscists recruited him on one of the banned social networks. There, a russian servicewoman offered him a close relationship in exchange for gathering information.

Among the main enemy targets were fortifications and backup command posts of Ukrainian troops.

To collect the geolocations, the agent walked around the city and its surroundings.

Once they obtained the coordinates, the occupiers planned to carry out a new series of strikes on Kostiantynivka using guided aerial bombs.

The SSU prevented this and detained the aggressor’s informant at an early stage of his reconnaissance activities.

Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defense Forces.

SSU investigators notified the perpetrator of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without the right to bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
