SSU detains GRU informant who adjusted russian bombardment of Lyman

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another informant of russia’s military intelligence (‘the GRU’) in Donetsk oblast. The perpetrator guided russian heavy guided aerial bombs, artillery, and strike drones at Lyman.

According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a 50-year-old local saleswoman who wished for the region to be captured.

She began cooperating with the ruscists after offering them her help in the war against Ukraine on one of the Telegram channels.

The agent was tasked with tracking and transmitting the coordinates of the Defence Forces, which the occupiers used to plan their attacks.

She gathered intelligence while walking around the frontline community, trying to identify and mark on Google Maps the geolocations of the reserve command posts and fortified areas of Ukrainian defenders.

The saleswoman also tried to covertly elicit information from visitors to the shop, mostly local residents.

The traitor sent the collected data to an old acquaintance of hers who had moved to russia and is working for the russian intelligence services.

The SSU Counterintelligence identified the agent, documented her sabotage activities, and, in the final stage, detained her.

A smartphone with evidence of her work for the enemy was seized during the search.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 the CCU (unauthorised dissemination of information on the movement or deployment of the AFU, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
