The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another russian agent in Dnipropetrovsk region. The perpetrator is a mobilized soldier from Zaporizhzhia who was recruited by the enemy, went absent without leave, and collected intelligence for the russian federation on the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to the investigation, russian intelligence services were primarily interested in information regarding Ukrainian military bases in the front-line areas.

The ruscists planned to use the intelligence to prepare new strikes and adjust repeated shelling targeting Ukraine’s eastern and southern regions.

Additionally, the enemy sought to obtain personal data on the AFU commanders executing combat operations on the front lines.

Specifically, the agent was tasked with collecting and passing information to russian intelligence regarding the temporary locations of Ukrainian servicemen, their call signs, and the bases of subordinate personnel.

The enemy planned to use this data to prepare terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage against the Defense Forces.

To carry out his assignment, the deserter attempted to leak information about his own military unit and neighboring Ukrainian positions to the russians.

SSU officers uncovered the enemy's scheme in advance, documented the agent's espionage activities in stages, and detained him.

According to the investigation, russian intelligence recruited the mobilized soldier through his mother, who was in contact with acquaintances living in temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region and working for the ruscists.

During searches, the detainee was seized of a smartphone containing evidence of his cooperation with the enemy.

SSU investigators have served the agent with a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by officers of the SSU Main Office in Dnipropetrovsk Region under the procedural supervision of the Dnipro Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office in the Eastern Region.
