SSU detains long-distance truck driver – FSB agent adjusting russian strikes on Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained an agent of russia’s federal security service who, under the cover of an international truck driver, was adjusting strikes on Ukraine.
His main task was to collect and pass to the enemy the geolocations of defense and critical infrastructure facilities.
While on international work trips, the agent also tracked the movement of weapons and military goods transported through the EU towards Ukraine and provided this information to ruscists.
According to the investigation, the perpetrator recorded the coordinates of the ‘targets’ directly during the transportation of goods and stored the collected data on six smartphones.
The SSU’s cyber units identified that this spotter was a member of the FSB agent network which the Security Service dismantled in January this year. At that time, three participants of the cell were detained, while the driver was abroad at the time.
The SSU detained the suspect immediately after his arrival in Ukraine.
Mobile phones with evidence of his work for the FSB were found during the search of the agent.
Investigators of the Security Service have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operational and investigative activities were carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
