SSU detains enemy agent preparing terrorist attacks in Odesa region
The SSU Counterintelligence has prevented a new attempt by ruscists to carry out terrorist attacks in Odesa region.
The Servive has detained an agent of russian special services who attempted to detonate two improvised explosive devices in Izmail.
The terrorist attacks were to take place one after the other during rush hour. One explosion was to occur near the district traffic police station, and the other near another Defense Forces facility located nearby.
In this way, russia hoped to kill as many military personnel and civilians as possible.
The SSU uncovered the enemy’s plan at an early stage and caught the perpetrator red-handed as he was planting the bomb in a flower bed near the defense building.
The executor of russia’s order turned out to be a 27-year-old local car mechanic recruited by the aggressor. He came to the attention of the occupiers while searching for easy money on Telegram channels.
According to available information, russian special services were going to activate the IEDs themselves. To carry out remote explosions and obtain video confirmation of the attacks, the handler instructed the agent to rent a flat with a view of both sites.
The traitor used this location not only to install cameras, but also to manufacture the explosive devices, which he hid in fire extinguishers and added metal nuts for greater damage.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Articles 15.3 and 258.2 of the CCU (attempted terrorist act).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office.
