SSU detains GRU agent who involved his minor son in guiding russian strikes at Dnipro

The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another agent of the GRU, russian military intelligence, in Dnipro. The perpetrator adjusted russia’s air strikes on defence and industrial facilities in the frontline city.

As the investigation established, the spotter is a 63-year-old security guard at a local driving school who had been recruited by the enemy. He involved his 17-year-old schoolboy son in collaborating with the occupiers.

The young man, on his dad’s instructions, scouted and photographed the facades of enterprises that, in his opinion, could be executing defence orders.

The priority ‘reconnaissance targets’ included private companies involved in the production and repair of drones, both aerial and ground.

The minor sent the photos with the coordinates of the sites on Google Maps to his father via a messenger app. The latter compiled the data for a ‘report’ to the russian military intelligence.

The father also walked around the city. He recorded the addresses of buildings where he noticed concentrations of Ukrainian military personnel and vehicles.

The Security Service of Ukraine identified the agent at an early stage, documented his actions, and apprehended him.

Smartphones, on which the enemy accomplices stored intelligence collected for the GRU, were seized during the search.

An anonymous chat with a GRU ‘liaison’ was found on the 63-year-old suspect’s mobile phone.

SSU investigators have declared the detained senior agent suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

He is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The decision to bring his minor son to justice is pending.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
