Dnipropetrovsk region: SSU detains FSB agent who equipped caches with explosives for terrorist attacks by order of russia

The SSU Military Counterintelligence prevented the escape from Ukraine of a russian agent who was preparing a series of terrorist attacks in Dnipropetrovsk region.

The offender was detained at the central railway station in Kyiv, from where he was trying to travel to the European Union and then to russia.

The traitor is a 63-year-old former law enforcer from Donetsk, recruited by the FSB, who had moved to Dnipropetrovsk region before the start of the full-scale war.

Following the instructions of russian special services, he prepared four caches with combat grenades, detonators and other IED components in the towns of Pavlohrad and Shakhtarsk.

The FSB planned to pass the coordinates of these caches to potential perpetrators of terrorist attacks.

According to the investigation, the traitor equipped caches near abandoned buildings and local cemeteries. In addition to the IEDs, he disguised SIM cards and phones in juice boxes for agent communication.

The SSU Military Counterintelligence has documented every episode of the suspect's subversive activities and detained him at the final stage of the special operation. The SSU has seized a russian passport issued to him in 2024.

SBU investigators have served him a notice of suspicion under two articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason committed under martial law);
  • 263.2 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).

The offender is in custody facing life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The investigation was carried under the procedural supervision of Dnipro Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Eastern Region.
