SSU detains FSB agent who adjusted russian strikes on Cherkasy region

In Cherkasy region, the SSU Counterintelligence has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service. He is a 42-year-old internally displaced person from Bakhmut, who moved to the central oblast of Ukraine in autumn 2022 and later started working for the occupiers.

After remote recruitment, the perpetrator prepared coordinates for russian missile and drone attacks on the oblast.

For example, to strike the district Territorial Recruitment Center, the asset came to the military facility under the pretext of updating his data in the Center and from there sent its geolocation to the FSB.

The man also regularly travelled around the region, trying to identify radar stations and Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile systems.

During such reconnaissance sorties, the traitor spied on training centers and reserve command posts of Ukrainian troops.

Later, he hoped to get a job as a chief specialist in a local government and use this position to continue gather intelligence.

The SSU uncovered the traitor at an early stage, documented his crimes and detained him while he was conducting reconnaissance near a potential target.

A mobile phone with evidence of his working for the enemy was seized during searches.

According to the investigation, the individual came to russia’s attention when he was looking for easy money on Telegram.

SSU investigators have now served him a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Cherkasy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
