SSU prevents new terrorist attacks against AFU servicemen in Khmelnytskyi and Dnipropetrovsk regions
The SSU Counterintelligence detained another two enemy agents who were preparing terrorist attacks in Khmelnytskyi and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. russia recruited both assets separately, when the individuals were looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels.
To carry out terrorist attacks, the perpetrators received geolocations of caches from their russian handlers and took the prepared improvised explosive devices from there.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, a 19-year-old woman from Pavlohrad was detained for attempting to blow up a Ukrainian defender’s service SUV.
To carry out the attack, the agent hid the IED under the wheel of the parked car and placed a phone camera on a tree to record the explosion.
In Khmelnytskyi, a 16-year-old student of a local college was apprehended for preparing to blow up a railway track on which a Ukrainian military freight train was to pass.
It was established that the girl was supposed to plant explosives near the railway tracks. The russians planned to activate the bomb remotely when the train approached.
To monitor the movement of the AFU train, the enemy accomplice installed a video camera with remote access for the occupiers at the location.
Both individuals were caught red-handed while preparing the terrorist attacks. Explosive devices and smartphones, containing evidence of their contacts with the russian special services, were seized during searches.
SSU investigators notified the detainees of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU, according to the offences committed:
- 15.2, 258.2 (completed attempt to commit a terrorist act, committed by a group upon prior conspiracy);
- 114-2.3 (unauthorized dissemination of information on the movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other lawful formations, committed by a group upon prior conspiracy, under martial law).
The suspects face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Dnipropetrovsk and Khmelnytskyi regions under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
