SSU declares another ruscist judge suspect in absentia: he sends captured National Guard servicemen to russian prisons

The Security Service of Ukraine has collected evidence against another russian judge who is committing war crimes against Ukrainian prisoners.

According to the investigation, the judge in question is Aleksey Magomadov of russia’s Southern district military court.

On 11 September 2024, he sentenced a captured soldier from a Ukrainian National Guard brigade to 17 years in prison in a strict regime colony.

To stage a show trial, Magomadov used fabricated charges against the serviceman of the Security and Defence Forces.

Doing so, the ruscist continued a series of illegal verdicts by the russian judicial system against Ukrainian prisoners of war who are combatants and are not subject to criminal liability for combat operations.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified Magomadov of suspicion in absentia under Article 438.1 of the CCU (war crimes, in particular violations of Articles 99 and 130 of the Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War of 12 August 1949).

Earlier, the Security Service qualified the actions of two other ruscist judges, Konstantin Prostov and Sergei Obraztsov, who had sentenced Ukrainian prisoners to prison terms, under the same Article.

The investigation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
