SSU issues in absentia suspicion notice against Iranian general for supplying engines to russia for Shahed drones
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police, under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office, have collected evidence of war crimes committed by brigadier general Abdolli Mehrabi, head of the Aerospace Forces of the islamic revolutionary guard corps.
According to the investigation, during 2022-2023, Mehrabi organized the supply of components to russia for the serial production of Shahed-136 kamikaze drones.
This involved the supply of wholesale batches of Iranian MD 550 engines, which are installed on strike drones, to russia’s ministry of defence.
To establish regular shipments of engines to the russian army, Mehrabi used his authority as co-owner and chairman of the board of a specialised Iranian company.
The investigation established that this is a strategically important enterprise of Iran’s military-industrial complex, specialising in the production of engines for UAVs.
The russians then used the components to manufacture attack drones on russian territory and attacked Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure with them.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators have notified Abdolli Mehrabi in absentia of suspicion under Articles 27.5, 28.2, 437.2 of the CCU (aiding and abetting in the conduct of an aggressive war, committed upon prior conspiracy, by a group).
The investigation to bring him to justice is ongoing. The crime is punishable by life imprisonment.
The investigation was carried out jointly with the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
