SSU exposes another three bloggers disclosing Ukrainian positions on social media
The Security Service has uncovered new evidence of unauthorised dissemination of data on the deployment of the Ukrainian Defence Forces. Three bloggers have been detained for disseminating the coordinates of Ukrainian defenders in several regions of our country.
The leaked information could potentially have been used by russian forces to plan new attacks and adjust strikes on Ukraine.
In the Donetsk region, a local resident was apprehended for disclosing the routes and temporary bases of military convoys in Kramatorsk.
The blogger published this information as videos on his TikTok page, which received nearly 100,000 views.
In Chernihiv oblast, two more suspects were detained. They administered Telegram channels with tens of thousands of subscribers to disseminate the locations of Ukrainian troops and law enforcement officers.
One of them shared the coordinates of checkpoints and the routes of police patrols with his 17,000 subscribers.
Another perpetrator – a local draft dodger who was hiding at home to evade mobilisation – shared the movement routes of mobile Territorial Recruitment Centres groups on his page, which had nearly 6,000 followers.
Smartphones and computer equipment, which these bloggers had used to leak the Defence Forces’ geolocations, were seized during searches.
A forensic examination initiated by the SSU confirmed the suspects’ involvement in information subversion activities in favour of russia.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the detainees of suspicion under two articles of the CCU:
- 114-1.1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations, during a special period);
- 114-2.2 (dissemination of information on movement, deployment, or location of the AFU or other military formations, to the extent that they can be identified on the ground).
The suspects face up to 8 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
The operational and investigative activities were carried out by the SSU Offices in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Chernihiv regions under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Offices.
