SSU exposes another eight pro-russian online agitators in Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a further eight pro-kremlin agitators in several regions of Ukraine. They spoke out in support of russia’s armed aggression, called for an increase in the intensity of strikes against Ukraine, and justified the war crimes committed by ruscists.

In Kyiv, the SSU’s cyber units detained a security company cash collector who spread disinformation about the Defence Forces on Telegram channels and called for the occupation of Ukraine.

In addition, whilst on work trips, he secretly photographed checkpoints and mobile teams of Territorial Recruitment Centres, tagged their geolocations, and then disclosed this information via a messaging app, accompanied by calls to disrupt the mobilisation.

In Sumy, a Telegram channel administrator has been declared suspect for praising russia for its regular shelling of the regional centre.

Furthermore, the blogger called on the aggressor state to strike Ukraine with a Sarmat nuclear missile.

In Dnipro, a member of an underground cell promoting a fake ‘people’s government’ has been exposed. The woman called for a coup d’état in Ukraine and denied russia’s war crimes, in particular the massive air strikes on Ukrainian cities.

It has been documented that she published hostile content on her Facebook and TikTok pages, reaching a total audience of nearly 8,000 users.

A resident of Kryvyi Rih was also detained after calling on russia in Telegram chat rooms to attack Kyiv with nuclear weapons.

In the Chernihiv region, the SSU Military Counterintelligence and the State Bureau of Investigation exposed a conscript who, in conversations with fellow servicemen, denied the fact of russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

According to witness statements, the suspect regularly expressed support for the kremlin regime and justified the war crimes committed by ruscists.

The law enforcement detained him in Poltava, where he had fled from his military unit after completing training at a training centre.

In the Zhytomyr region, the SSU’s cyber units exposed two unemployed men who, in Telegram channel chat rooms, were praising the kremlin regime and russian armed groupings.

One of them justified russia’s war crimes in Bucha, whilst the other called for an increase in strikes on the positions of the Defence Forces using guided aerial bombs.

In the Odesa region, the SSU Counterintelligence detained an agitator who called on the occupiers to seize the region and ‘annex’ it to russia.

To spread enemy propaganda, the suspect took part in online broadcasts streamed on TikTok from russian territory.

Linguistic analyses initiated by the Security Service confirmed the suspects’ involvement in information subversion activities in russia’s favour.

The perpetrators have now been notified of their status as suspects under several Articles of the CCU, according to the offences committed:

  • 109.2 (actions aimed at forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order or the seizure of state power);
  • 114-1.1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations during a state of emergency);
  • 161.1 (intentional acts aimed at inciting national enmity and hatred, and at humiliating national honour and dignity);
  • 407.5 (unauthorised absence from a military unit or place of service by a military serviceman, committed under martial law);
  • 436 (propaganda for war);
  • 436-2 (justifying, recognising as lawful, or denying russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, or glorifying its participants).

The suspects face up to 10 years’ imprisonment.

The operations were carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Offices.
