SSU exposes enemy agent trying to join Zaporizhzhia defence plant
In Zaporizhzhia, the Security Service of Ukraine has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service. He tried to get a job at a defence plant in order to leak the coordinates of local enterprises working for the front to the russians.
The investigation established that the perpetrator was a Zaporizhzhia plant employee recruited by the aggressor state. Under the pretext of looking for a new job, he came for an interview to one of Ukraine’s defence industry enterprises.
During the meeting, the agent immediately began asking questions about the security system of the classified facility during air alerts.
While on the premises of the production workshop, he tried to obtain information on the presence of anti-drone nets inside and air defence systems around the perimeter.
In addition to gathering intelligence at the interview, he also walked around the city to record locations and photograph the facades of other enterprises fulfilling defence orders.
He stored the collected data on his smartphone and passed the intelligence to his handler via an anonymous chat in a messenger app.
The SSU cyber units detained the traitor and took action to protect the locations of the region’s defence infrastructure.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Cherkasy and Zaporizhzhia regions under the procedural supervision of Cherkasy Region Prosecutor’s Office.
