SSU exposes minor – GRU agent helping russia prepare new attack on Burshtyn Thermal Power Plant

The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another enemy agent in Ivano-Frankivsk. She turned out to be a 17-year-old technical college graduate recruited by the enemy. On occupiers’ orders, she was helping russia prepare a new series of missile strikes on the energy infrastructure of Prykarpattia.

According to the investigation, the enemy sought intelligence on the Burshtyn Thermal Power Plant.

The traitor conducted reconnaissance near the TPP to assess its technical condition after the previous attack, photograph the facility's outer perimeter, and ‘report’ to the russian intelligence.

As the investigation established, the girl came to the attention of the GRU (russian military intelligence service) when she posted a job ad on one of the Internet resources.

After remote recruitment with the promise of ‘easy money’, the agent travelled to the Burshtyn TPP.

She left the city by taxi and then walked to the power facility.

Once on-site, she took photos and videos of the TPP buildings and mapped them using electronic coordinates.

The enemy accomplice was also collecting intelligence on one of the main substations in Ivano-Frankivsk.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained her red-handed near a strategically important facility. At the scene, her smartphone, which she used to collect data for the GRU and contact them, was seized.

Another four mobile phones were seized during the search of her home. She had been changing the phones to maintain covert communication with her handler.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces up to 10 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Ivano-Frankivsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
