SSU apprehends FSB agent recruiting Ukrainians to register russian Starlink terminals
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another enemy agent in Kropyvnytskyi. On behalf of russia’s federal security service, he registered Starlink satellite terminals, which russia uses in its war against Ukraine, under false identities.
The investigation established that the FSB’s task was carried out by a 44-year-old local draft evader.
He came to the attention of russian intelligence when he was seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram. After the recruitment, the agent first registered Starlink in his name, supposedly for his domestic needs.
The perpetrator then planned to involve his relative and ten drug addicts, who had previously agreed to cooperate with him for money.
Using their passport details, the individual hoped to register eleven more terminals and transfer the device details to the FSB.
The SSU uncovered the adversary’s plan at an early stage and caught the agent red-handed at a local administrative services center when he was trying to register Starlink under a false identity.
The terminal that the suspect had registered for the occupiers’ needs was blocked and blacklisted by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
A smartphone with evidence of working for the aggressor state was seized from the detainee during the search.
SSU investigators have notified him of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The decision to qualify the illegal actions of his relative and other persons involved in the criminal scheme is pending.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
If you or your friends are being recruited by the enemy, or if you have information about possible activities of russian intelligence services, please report it to the SSU:
