SSU exposes FSB agent organising arson attacks on military personnel’s vehicles in Kyiv
In Kyiv, the Security Service has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service. On behalf of the aggressor state, he organised arson attacks on Defence Forces vehicles in the capital.
As the investigation established, the perpetrator sought out potential saboteurs, recruited them, and coordinated their activities.
In March of this year, the SSU caught two enemy agents ‘red-handed’ –they were supervised by this suspect. On his orders, they set cars on fire in the Desnianskyi district of the capital.
The coordinator turned out to be a conscript who had deserted his post in the Kharkiv region and fled to the capital, where he began working for russia.
He came to the attention of the russian intelligence while looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram.
After the recruitment, he began looking for local drug addicts to work for the FSB, who agreed to carry out arson attacks for a ‘dose’ of drugs.
They agreed the target with the ‘supervisor’, and after the arson sent him photos and videos of the fire. He reported to his FSB handler via a messenger app.
The SSU documented the crimes of the head of the group and detained him at his home in Kyiv.
During the searches, a smartphone containing evidence of his work for the FSB was seized from the suspect.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-1.1 of the CCU (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations).
The suspect is currently in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
