The Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has exposed another FSB spotter gathering information on a Ukrainian defence facility.

The suspect is a resident of Lviv region who was recruited by russian intelligence services and was working at a facility in western Ukraine involved in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles for the Defence Forces.

According to the investigation, the traitor was tasked with helping the enemy prepare a missile strike on the facility in an attempt to disrupt the supply of strike and reconnaissance UAVs to Ukrainian troops.

The agent attempted to transmit to russia’s federal security service the precise locations of the facility’s administrative, production and storage buildings. The russians were also interested in information about periods when the largest number of personnel were present at this restricted-access site.

The SSU exposed the agent’s activities and detained him before he could carry out the enemy’s plans.

During a search of the suspect’s home, investigators found a tablet that he had used to covertly receive and transmit intelligence and communicate with his FSB handler.

As has been established, the enemy recruited the asset through a Telegram channel offering ‘easy money’ opportunities.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU – high treason, committed under martial law.

The suspect faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Military Counterintelligence in cooperation with the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine, under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
