SSU exposes FSB agent who helped russia conduct missile strikes on Khmelnytskyi region

In Khmelnytskyi region, the Security Service of Ukraine has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service. He turned out to be a 53-year-old local resident, who adjusted russian missile and drone attacks on this western region of Ukraine.

According to the SSU’s cyber units, in order to adjust russian drone and missile strikes he set up a group on Telegram and administered it under the guise of collecting data on mobilisation measures.

Under this cover, the agent actually received messages with information on the locations of large concentrations of Ukrainian troops.

When he saw the data he sought, he contacted the author of the message separately and asked for additional details on the locations and routes of the Defence Forces.

The agent was most interested in intelligence on deployment and movement of mobile air defence teams that protect the region’s airspace.

Using his Telegram group, the traitor also tried to identify locations of radar stations and anti-aircraft missile systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He compiled the information he gathered into a ‘report’ for the FSB with photos and coordinates of potential ‘targets’.

Using this intelligence, the russians hoped to launch a new series of air strikes on the region evading Ukrainian air defences.

However, the SSU acted preemptively: the perpetrator was identified at an early stage, his crimes were documented, and he was detained.

A smartphone, which he used to administer the intelligence-gathering group on Telegram and contact his FSB handler, was seized during the search.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The investigation is underway.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Khmelnytskyi region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
